The Arts Society: Brecknock (Formally the Brecknock Decorative and Fine Arts Society or BDFAS) was founded in 1987 and is a member of the West Mercia region for The Arts Society . There are currently 21 societies covering South Wales, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire in the West Mercia region. The National Decorative and Fine Arts Society (NADFAS) went through rebranding in January 2017 and is now called The Arts Society across the UK.
The Arts Society works to advance decorative and fine arts education and appreciation, alongside promoting the preservation of artistic heritage. The Arts Society is a UK based charity with over 90,000 members supporting a network of over 360 local Societies in the UK, Europe and Australasia.

Our activities are centred in Brecon in Powys and our members come from a wide surrounding area. We promote the aims of The Arts Society by:
- arranging lectures and study days for members
- organising occasional outings and visits to private houses, gardens, museums and exhibitions
- organising occasional longer trips – to another region of the UK, or overseas to an area of artistic and cultural interest
- promoting volunteer activities such a Heritage Volunteers, Church Recorders & Young Arts
Joining us is a great way to expand your knowledge of the arts as well as have fun and make new friendships.
Membership is open to any adult. See our joining details on our Join us page. We are lucky enough to be able to use the spacious facilities at Theatr Brycheiniog, Canal Wharf, Brecon, LD3 7EW for our regular lectures.
